BALLISTICS

Ballistics is the science of projectile motion, covering the processes inside a firearm, the projectile's flight after leaving the barrel, and its impact on a target. This PROJECTILE or bullet is the piece of coated lead that leaves the barrel after firing. The CARTRIDGE is the brass case, primer, powder and projectile all together. The BALLISTICS of the bullet is a complex set of calculations based on many factors including the weight and shape of the projectile, the velocity of the bullet, which is mostly determined by the amount and type of powder used in the cartridge, and even your barrel length, just to name a few.
You will learn that every projectile has a BALLISTIC COEFFICIENT (BC) which is an indication of how efficiently it flies, and how well it maintains its velocity when wind and gravity are working against it.
The ballistics data will be useful down the line, when you are developing your own data (DOPE) to help shoot consistently, so keep this page bookmarked!
